Thanks for the mention Amy! What do you do the week before break in your room?

    Hi Brenda,

Our holiday concerts occur right up to the day the students leave for break. I am not sure if that is advantageous or not because there will be students who leave for break early and do not appear at the concert. However, along with the concert preparation, I do many of the items that you and Carol discussed in the podcast. The music games that emphasize movement, musical styles, and phrasing are always a hit with my students. Plus, my second graders are currently composing and having a blast creating music and burning them to CDs.

Have a wonderful holiday! Keep up the great blog posts and podcasts!
    Amy:)

    Carol Broos,
I am an elementary music educator and I thought that I was tech savvy because I use a SMARTboard in my room for whole group activities. I was very intrigued about how you use your Promethean board as part of “small group,” work or “centers.” How many computers do you have in your room and how big are you elementary classes? I would love to do activities like this, but I do not see how they are practical, unless I am not seeing the big picture. One last question about your “making CDs,” project. Are these CDs of the concert? I don’t understand how burning multiple CDs takes time, because once one is created, it should only take seconds to copy it? Unless you have more involved within this project. Thank you for your inspirational podcast and I would love any suggestions for my music class.

    Charles

Thanks again for the posts - you’ve got a very informative blog here. I also would like to thank you, Amy (though we don’t know each other personally) for inspiring me as a music educator. I see lots of motivation, commitment and determination in you. And I must say that not all can possibly possess such strength and drive. Your passion over music and music teaching is amazingly admirable. Keep the motivation kicking and alive. Til your next posts. See you!
