banner.jpgThis coming Friday I will be attending the The National Flute Association Annual Convention at the Marriott Marquis in New York City. One of my favorite flutist, James, Galway, will receive the 2009 Lifetime Achievement Award. He is also going to try to break the world record of the largest flute ensemble. The current record is set in China last month with 1,975 flute players. I am planning on attending and I am bringing my 15-year-old niece with me. She has been playing flute since the 5th grade and she is loving it! This year, she decided to take up the clarinet too and now can play both instruments proficiently. I credit a lot of her ambition, determination, and love for music to her music teachers. It will be a joy to attend this conference with her, show her around the conference, and to play in the ensemble with her.

There are some wonderful sessions that will be taking place during the convention along with an amazing exhibit hall. If you are a flutist and/or a flute teacher, I highly recommend this conference!
